Veganerie

where being a vegan is an advantage

#MunchiesMonday Entry 1: Vegan my way to the Veganerie

Well, hello there, my beautiful fellow vegans!

This is the first entry of #MunchiesMonday, this is the part of @MyMeatlessMeals blog where I take you to awesome vegan restaurants, including shops that sell vegan friendly items, located in Bangkok (or in Thailand).

Disclaimer: I only review the places I have been to and have been impressed by. This is not an advertisement nor it is anything but a mere information regarding my experiences. I have no interest to report anything but my personal thoughts and the facts manifested during my visits. The images featured on here were all taken by me, as well as all the content on my blog. It was a fine evening, the sun was shining... still... as usual... even though it was already 6 p.m.
Since it's Thailand we're talking about, the heat jokes never get old. My friend and I met up for a chat. And of course, when there's a chat- there's always a dessert of some sort. We agreed to meet at Mercury Ville, opposite to Central Chidlom- (Chidlom Station via BTS Skytrain). If you're coming from the BTS entrance like I did, you'd just need to find an escalator and go up one floor, the sign "VEGANERIE" is rather hard to miss.

It is cute little bistro that offers selections of vegan goodness: from savoury to sweet dishes. I, however, went straight to desserts because that was kind of a given. The place is self-served. So, after placing your order, the staff will begin creating the dishes. You will be called when any of them is ready for serving. There is a tiny table where they provide us with forks and dessert knives, including paper cups and water in a jug where you can go help yourselves with whatever you need.

We started with their red velvet waffles, served with fresh fruits and vegan 'nice cream'. We ordered a large one; so, we got to pick two flavours of the two scoops of ice cream. At the time, we were so hungry, we didn't care. So, we went for the one we both liked: coconut almond. The waffles were freshly made, the were crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. The chocolate sauce really complimented the flavours.

Moving on to the star of the show: Double Chocolate Fudge Cake. It was indeed love at first sight. The texture was wonderful, and the flavours were rich. It was flawless. Can't fault it even if we tried. I have had a lot of chocolate cake in my time (imagine Bruce in the movie Matilda) and I can honestly say that this was one of the best chocolate cake I have ever had, and it was vegan! My tastebuds were pleasantly surprised to say the least. This is the dessert I would order for my non-vegan friends when they ask me "what do vegans eat?".
Quality. We eat quality.

Raspberry crumbles was the last on our list. I was glad that it wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be. The flavours of the raspberry layer was very much natural with only a hint of sweetness. The overall texture is nice. It wasn't my most favourite out of the bunch, but that was only because I LOVE chocolate; so, my friend gave this a 10, but I gave this an 8, only because it was good, but it wasn't the best. Still, it was pretty awesome.
